A project to do clean-up and repair work following the recent Alisal Fire will involve lane closures on Highway 101. Work will continue intermittently through April with short term-lane reduction in both directions of the highway.
The project includes cleaning and repairing damaged culverts and drainage channels; clearing burned vegetation from culvert inlet areas; installing rock netting; and repairing falling headwall and embankments along the 101 near Gaviota north of Gaviota State Park to El Capitan State Beach.
The lane closures will occur northbound 7 A.M..-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and southbound. 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Delays are not expected to exceed 10 minutes. Electronic message boards will be posted to inform motorists about the roadwork.
Contractor for the $5.7 million project is John Madonna Construction Company of San Luis Obispo. This project is expected to be completed in April.
