A man was shot and wounded in a Thursday morning drive-by shooting in Lompoc, police said.
The victim was filling his vehicle with gas at Conserve Fuel, at 802 East Ocean Ave., when a white van pulled into the business’s driveway and shots were fired out of the vehicle, police said.
The vehicle fled the area after the shooting and the victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of his gunshot wound, the Lompoc Police Department said in a statement. He was in stable condition Thursday afternoon, they said.
Police investigators identified the suspect vehicle parked at a residence on the 800 block of East Cypress Avenue, and obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and home where it was found, police said.
The residence is near Hapgood Elementary School, so police placed the campus on lockdown Thursday afternoon as a precautionary measure while police served the search warrant.
Police said the lockdown was lifted after the search was finished.
No further information was available.
Sgt. Kevin Martin said Thursday morning that police were investigating two shootings, but no information has been released regarding a second shooting.
The city has had a number of shootings and stabbings, many believed to be related to gang activity, since the summer.
