Isabella Urlando won two events and set a state record, leading the SBCC women’s swimming and diving team to a fifth place at the California Community College Athletic Association Championships at East Los Angeles College.
Urlando’s state-record swim of 2:01.56 to win the 200 backstroke was recognized as the “Performance of the Meet.”
She won the 100 back in a school-record of 55.20, and finished second in the 100 butterfly in 57.19.
The SBCC relays swam exceptionally well, placing in the top three for all five events. The 200 free, 400 free and 400 medley relays were runners-up and the 200 medley and 800 free relays placed third.
Individually, SBCC advanced 13 entries into finals, with an additional two from diver Morgan Cederholm.
“A hard-fought season culminated in team and individual excellence at the highest competitive level,” said coach Chuckie Roth.
