Isabelle Berthoud scored the only goal of the game as Westmont Women’s Soccer  recorded a 1-0 win over the Regals of California Lutheran on Friday in Thousand Oaks.

“It was a really intense game,” said Westmont head coach Jenny Jaggard. “I would say it was the best game our team has played yet. We moved the ball well.

The goal came in the 60th minute. Katie Stella drove the ball to the end line and laid it back for Berthoud for the finish.

“She made a perfect run in and struck it to the back post and scored a beautiful goal,” said Jaggard of the goal.

The Warriors outshot the Regals 18-3, including a 12-1 shots-on-goal advantage. Westmont also tallied a 9-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Wesrmont will take a bit of a break from competition as classes start on Monday. The Warriors will take the pitch again on Saturday, Aug. 31 when they take on the Battlin’ Bears of Rocky Mountain (Mont.) beginning at 1:00 p.m. as part of a men’s and women’s doubleheader.
