Kai Morphy had the hot hand early for the Bishop Diego boys basketball team in a 61-34 Tri-Valley League win at Santa Clara on Saturday.
Morphy buried four three-pointers, sparking the Cardinals to a 20-6 lead, and they never looked back.
Morphy finished with 22 points and Bryan Trejo had 12 points. Andy Olmos scored 10 for Santa Clara.
“We are really starting to come together at a good time,” said Bishop coach James Coronado, whose team is now 5-0 in league and 15-7 overall. “We are looking for guys and trying to get the best shot as opposed to the first good one we see. It is also starting to rub off in terms of chemistry, which is probably the most important of all.”
