Kainoa Glasgow poured in 24 points to lead the Carpinteria boys basketball team to its first win of the season, a 62-39 decision over Orcutt Academy, on Monday.
Sebastian Campuzano tallied 16 points for the Warriors, who are 1-2 on the season.
Carpinteria plays at St. Bonaventure on Saturday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Charlotte Cooney made four three-pointers and scored 18 points for the Carpinteria girls basketball team in a 47-39 loss to Santa Clara in the opeing game at the Nordhoff Tournament.
Amarisse Camargo added nine points and six steals, and Jamaica Cool grabbed 14 rebounds and had three steals
“I was very happy with our will to compete and our resilience,” said coach Henry Gonzales. “We are improving in many facets of the game and look forward to playing tomorrow night against either Nordhoff or Thousand Oaks.”
CIF INDIVIDUAL TENNIS
Laguna Blanca’s Caroline Kenny won her first-round match and lost in the second round at the CIF-SS Sectional Tournament at Cate School on Monday.
Kenny defeated Zahra Porinsh of Carpenteria, 6-1, 6-1 and then fell to No. 2-seeded Giana Mucci of Calabasas, 6-0, 6-2.
In the doubles bracket at Carpenteria High, Laguna Blanca’s Katharine Ball and Lucia Camp lost in the second round to Santa Barbara High’s team of Caitlyn Buist and Ashley Birch.
