Josh Hansen scored the equalizing and game-winning goals for Laguna Blanca in a 2-1 victory at Villanova in a Frontier League boys soccer game on Saturday.
Hansen scored the game winner in the 60th minute. Cole Murphy collected a long ball from the back and fed Hansen, wno went in alone on goal. He calmly tucked his shot into the corner for the match decider.
Hansen tied the score in the 36th minute on a hard driven cross that was mishandled by the goalkeeper.
Villanova, which scored in the 10th minute, pressured the Owls throughout the first half, but Laguna goalkeeper Henry Otte “was equal to the task with some great saves,” said interim coach Kevin Shertzer.
“I was very impressed with the defensive play of freshman Eli Meisel and indeed our entire back line,” said Shertzer. “They were calm on the ball and continually snuffed out Villanova’s opportunities before they became dangerous.
“Cole Murphy up top worked tirelessly to unsettle their defenders and, of course, Josh Hansen deserves a nod for being the integral part of each of our goals.”
