Laguna Blanca faced a nine-player Villanova team and won 4-1 in a Frontier League girls soccer game on Thursday.

“For us, it was an important three points for league, despite playing against a side with only nine players,” coach Kevin Shertzer said. “Again, I can’t say enough about the game Villanova played.”

Bea Lujan scored the first goal for the Owls, taking a centering pass from Emma Self and placing it in the corner of the net in the 14th minute.

In the 32nd minute, off of a corner kick, Jacqueline Richardson played the ball back from where it came and Bea Lujan once again controlled the ball quite wide and hit a magnificent shot from a tight angle into the upper V of the net.

In the second half,  Julia Guglielmo was pushed in the box for a penalty and converted the penalty kick for a 3-0 lead.

Halfway through the second half, the sister connection of Brooke and Emma Self combined for the fourth goal.  Emma Self buried the shot.

Villanova avoided the shutout by converting a penalty kick.
