The Laguna Blanca girls soccer team was blanked by Santa Clara, 3-0, in a Frontier League match on Tuesday in Oxnard
The Saints scored in the second minute and added two goals late in the second half.
“Our bus actually broke down on the way to the game and so we had a limited warmup,” said coach Kevin Shertzer. “Needless to say, our heads weren’t in the game yet and they pounced.
“To our girls credit, we battled the entire game, but Santa Clara was clearly the better team on the night and deserved the victory.”
The coach praised the defense of Frances Carlson.
Laguna Blanca plays at Thacher on Thursday.
