Laguna Blanca gave up goals on a penalty kick and a long shot late in the first half and dropped a 3-0 decison against Crean Lutheran in a girls soccer match on Friday.

“Crean Lutheran is an experienced Division 4 team, so we knew we were opening against a strong opponent,” coach Kevin Shetzer said. “As a coach, I love to have these games early in the year. They only serve to improve us as a squad to play against quality opponents.”

He praised the play of freshman goalkeeper Fiona Hernandez.

“She stopped a breakaway and made four fantastic saves,” said Shertzer. We struggled to create any real scoring opportunities thanks to a stellar defensive unit on Crean’s side.  For most of the game, we had six freshman on the field and I was very happy with how they all played today.”
