The Lompoc Fire Department is accepting applications from nonprofit groups to be entered into this year’s lottery for an opportunity to sell Safe and Sane fireworks.
Permits to sell Safe and Sane fireworks will be limited to six sale stands in the city of Lompoc. Permits will be issued only to organized and established nonprofit organizations within Lompoc city limits. All qualified nonprofit groups will be chosen by lottery, with first priority given to new applicants.
Hard copies of the application are available 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Lompoc Fire Station 51, 115 South G St. Applications must be picked up in-person by an adult representative of the applying organization.
Applications must be filed by 5 p.m. Feb. 1, and returned to Fire Station 51. Applicants will be notified by Feb. 15 if their application did not meet the requirements for consideration.
The lottery for determining which qualifying nonprofit organizations will receive firework sale permits will be on Feb. 23. All nonprofits whose applications have been selected will have until March 31 to submit the required information.
Last year’s nonprofit groups granted firework sales permission will be considered for an alternate position if these groups apply for the 2023 lottery, and entered into the lottery in the event there are fewer than six new applicants accepted and approved.
