The city of Lompoc is kicking off its 135th birthday celebration this year with the unveiling of a birthday logo inspired by designs from local high school students.

Themed Honoring our Legacy, Launching into our Future, Lompoc is marking 135 years in 2023 since its founding in 1888.

The centerpiece of the year-long recognition will be the City of Lompoc 135th birthday logo, created using elements of two winning design pieces selected from the 14 logo designs submitted by local high school students.

The city congratulates the students tied for first place in the design contest: Makaylah June and Alyssa Lazos. The city also congratulates Diane Custodio in second place, and Guillermo Olguin in third.

Lompoc thanks all the students who participated in the contest, and Elizabeth Alvarez, visual arts teacher at Lompoc High School, who encouraged a number of the student artists to participate in the logo contest.

The city’s birthday logo and the student submissions will be posted on the city’s website, https://www.cityoflompoc.com/community/city-of-lompoc-135th-birthday-logo-design-contest.

Lompoc’s Electric Division, founded in 1923, also is holding its centennial celebration this year.
