A man was fatally wounded in Lompoc Monday night in a shooting that was being investigated as a homicide, according to the Lompoc Police Department.
At approximately 8 p.m., police and other emergency personnel responded to the area of West Chestnut Avenue and North O Street, where they found the shooting victim, Lompoc police Chief Joe Mariani told Noozhawk.
The victim, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was approximately 30 years old, Mariani said.
Detectives were working late Monday night to develop information about the suspect or suspects responsible for the killing, he added. They also were trying to determine if the slaying was gang-related.
