Santa Barbara High’s boys soccer team made an early goal stand up for a 1-0 Channel League win at Santa Ynez on Thursday night.

Luisangel Jeronimo hammered home a shot in the ninth minute after the work of Jorge Ochoa kept the ball alive inside the Santa Ynez 18-yard box.

The defense did the rest on a cold night in Solvang.

“Defensively as a team, we did the little things to get the win and the three points on the road to open league play,” said coach Todd Heil. “Connor Lambe was in goal for our eighth shutout.”

Santa Barbara improves to 12-1-2 and 1-0 in league. The Dons play at San Marcos in the Super Soccer Showdown on Saturday  at 5 p.m. Santa Ynez is 1-1 in league.
