Luke Taggart and two relievers combined on a two-hit shutout, leading the Santa Barbara Foresters to a 5-0 baseball win over the San Francisco Seals on Saturday at Pershing Park.
Taggart was sensational in his six innings of work, striking out 11 and allowing two hits. He gave up a single in the first and a double in the fifth inning.
The Seals had runners at second and first with one out in the fifth, but Taggart struck out the next two batters to end the scoring threat.
Former San Marcos and SBCC standout Ian Churchill relieved Taggart and struck out four and walked one in two innings of work. Peyton Pallette gave up a walk and struck out one in the ninth inning.
Jace Jung and Bryce Warrecker each drove in two runs to pace the Santa Barbara offense. Jung, who went 3 for 4, hit a solo homer in the first inning and singled home Matt McLain in the third.
The recent Santa Barbara High graduate and Cal Poly-bound Warrecker had a run-scoring single in the sixth and a RBI triple in the eighth.
Peyton Graham went 3-4 with a RBI and a run scored.
The Foresters (14-3) welcome the Santa Maria Pea Soup back for a Sunday matinee starting at 2 p.m. Listen to all the action on KCSB.org/sports.
