The San Marcos girls swim team improved to 3-0 on Thursday after a 126-40 Channel League win over Lompoc at the Royals’ pool.

Freshman Madi Sparre won the 200 freestyle and took second in the 500 free. Junior Megan Musick finished first in the 100 backstroke and anchored the victorious 400 free relay. Junior Claire Kronen was second in the 200 free and 100 backstroke. Freshman Keegan Steele also finished second in both the 100 butterfly and 50 free.

“Our hard work is paying off and we’re excited to compete at home next Thursday against Dos Pueblos,” said coach Chuckie Roth. “I was proud of our improvements this week and I thought we swam very well considering the training week we put forward. We are growing as a team and improving and I’m excited about the rest of the season.”

The San Marcos boys won 132-36, taking all the relays and individual events.

Highlight swims for the Royals included Asher Steelman winning the 500 free, Oliver Grant-Chapman taking the 100 backstroke and Hunter May winning the 100 butterfly.
