One person reportedly was critically injured Tuesday night in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 166 west of Santa Maria.
Santa Barbara County firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly after 10 p.m. to the 1700 block of Highway 166/West Main Street, where a vehicle had slammed into a utility pole, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A man with major injuries was found down in the roadway after apparently being ejected from the vehicle, according to emergency radio traffic.
The patient was taken by AMR ambulance to the Santa Maria Airport, then transferred to a Calstar medical helicopter for a flight to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
The victim’s name and details on their condition were not available.
