UCSB’s Malia Benson set a school record in the women’s javelin at track & field meet with UC Irvine, Cal State Northridge and Westmont College at Pauley Track.
Benson won the event at the UCSB Invitational with a toss of 164-5.
Abigail Monti led a Gaucho sweep in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:02.55. Paige Damon, Maddie Conte and Alison Tjoe placed second through fourth.
Amanda Spear was a double winner, taking the hammer (172-1) and discus (162-2).
For the UCSB men, Brendan Fong won the 100 (10.98) and 200 (21.9).
Distance standout Nick Randazzo, running unattached, led a quartet of UCSB runners in the 1500. He won in 3:48.98 and was followed by Travis Bryson, Advait Krishnan and Dylan Manning.
Tyler Holt doubled in the 100 hurdles I14.54) and 400 hurdles (55.27).
Leon Gillis of the Gauchos cleared 6-11 to win the high jump. Jared Freeman threw the hammer 190-10 to take the event.
In the Sam Adams Combined Events, Jessica Swalve of UCSB won the heptathlon with 5,130 points, and Brad Thomas of the Gauchos took the decathlon with 6,814 points.
