A Santa Maria man has been arrested in connection with a shooting Monday that sent a male victim to the hospital with serious injuries, according to the Santa Maria Police Department.
Alberto Fidel Reyes, 38, was taken into custody without incident at about 5 p.m. Wednesday during a traffic stop on the 900 block of West Morrison Avenue, police said.
He was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, with bail set at $1 million.
The shooting occurred at about 3:15 p.m. Monday on the 600 block of North Palisade Drive, just south of Alvin Avenue.
The male victim, whose name was not released, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and was taken by AMR ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center, then transferred to a Calstar medical helicopter and flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
He remained in stable condition on Thursday, police said.
Detectives said previously they do not believe the shooting stemmed from gang activity, but added that the investigation was continuing.
