A man was taken to the hospital with critical injuries Thursday night after being stabbed on the city’s Eastside, and was later declared dead, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.

Officers responded at about 9:15 p.m. to the vicinity of Cacique Street and South Voluntario Street, according to Lt. Aaron Baker.

They found the stabbing victim, described only as a Hispanic male adult, and he was nonresponsive and without a pulse, Baker told Noozhawk, adding that CPR was performed on the man.

Witnesses told Noozhawk that the victim walked about a block after being stabbed before collapsing.

He was taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where he was later declared dead, Wagner said.

Officers were canvassing the area, but as of 10:30 p.m. had no suspect, Baker said.

Additional details were not immediately available.
