Santa Barbara City College is pleased to announce that Michael Shanahan has been selected as the new vice president of human resources. He serves in that capacity on an interim basis at Palomar College in San Diego County.
Shanahan brings a wealth of experience to the position. He served as vice chancellor of human resources for Ventura County Community College District from 2013-19, and prior to that served in executive roles in human resources for the Los Angeles Community College District.
In addition, Shanahan is a licensed attorney, having received his law degree from Loyola Marymount University.
“I am honored and very pleased to be entrusted with this responsibility,” Shanahan said. “The Human Resources Department is filled with great people, and I look forward to continuing their tradition of excellence in supporting an engaging place to work that fosters successful students.”
Shanahan will begin at SBCC on Jan. 2.
