A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 154 in the mountains above Santa Barbara.
The eastbound motorcyclist struck several objects, including a guard rail, before crashing over the side of the roadway near East Camino Cielo at the top of San Marcos Pass, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The rider, identified late Saturday night as Diane P. Tessier, 57, of Granada Hill, was declared dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred shortly before 3 p.m., the CHP said.
Tessier was traveling at 50 to 55 mph on a 1988 Harley-Davidson when her motorcycle left the roadway for unknown reasons, the CHP said.
The right-hand eastbound lane was shut down for a time in the area of the crash, the CHP said.
Santa Barbara County and Los Padres National Forest firefighters responded to the crash, along with the CHP and the Sheriff’s Department.
