A motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday in a Highway 154 crash in the mountains above Santa Barbara, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The single-vehicle crash occurred shortly before 10 a.m., south of Painted Cave Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist, a man believed to be in his 50s, suffered moderate injuries, according to fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli.

There were wet and foggy conditions on Highway 154 over San Marcos Pass at the time of the crash.

Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the incident, along with crews from Los Padres National Forest.

The injured rider was transported by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. His name and details on his condition were not available.

Less than an hour later, a couple miles up the highway, one person was killed and another critically injured in a head-on crash at West Camino Cielo.
