Patricia Anne Marek

Patricia “Patty” Anne Marek, 76, passed away peacefully on Dec. 8, 2022, after a long battle with adrenal metastatic cancer. Patty was born in Santa Barbara on Aug. 1, 1946 to Ruben and Hope Ponce (deceased).

She attended La Cumbre Jr. High and Santa Barbara High School, where she made many lifelong friendships.

Patty married her high school sweetheart Jack Rogers and was blessed with two sons. Patty’s boys and five grandchildren were her greatest joy.

Later in life Patty met and married Greg Marek. They spent many happy years together. Greg was her rock. He gave her love and support, and was the best caregiver you could imagine.

Patty’s family cannot thank Greg enough for the exceptional care and love he gave her.

Patty lived most of her life in Santa Barbara and Carpinteria, where she enjoyed working at Sambo’s corporate office, and UCSB.

She loved being around family and friends, walking on the beach, loom weaving classes, sewing, making quilts, knitting, crafting, golfing, and making jewelry. You could say there wasn’t a craft she didn’t like or want to try.

Patty always had a listening ear and a kind encouraging word for all. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Life will be different without you, but we know you’re watching over us and listening to us up in the heavens. The memories will forever keep you in our hearts till we meet again.

Patty is survived by her husband Greg Marek; sons Mark (Becky) and Greg (Angie) Rogers; granddaughters Cassie Rae, Kylie and Lindsey; grandsons Caden and Kyle Rogers; brothers Michael Ponce and Bob Ponce (deceased); sisters Diane Spaulding and Nancy Ponce Andrade (Manuel); nephew Gary Ponce; nieces Michelle Stransky (Kyle) and Kelly Ponce.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26 at Lions Park in Carpinteria.
