Power was restored to about 4,400 Santa Maria PG&E customers who were affected by a Friday morning outage caused by downed wires.

Company spokesman Mark Mesesan said the outage was reported at 7:45 a.m. and crews discovered wires down near Enos Drive and Thornburg Street, “likely due to gusty winds in the area.”

Crews were able to get power back on for the area around 9:20 a.m., he said.

There was a second, smaller outage in Santa Maria which may have been caused by an equipment issue, Mesesan said.

“We currently estimate power restoration to these customers by 12:15 p.m. today.”
