A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Lompoc late Friday night.

Emergency personnel were dispatched at 11:25 p.m. to the 600 block of North Fourth Street regarding a shooting, Sgt. Vincent Magallon of the Lompoc Police Department said. 

“When officers arrived, they located a 22-year-old male on the ground with bullet wounds,” Magallon said.

Officers administered life-saving measures until paramedics arrived, Magallon added. 

The victim was transported to Lompoc Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Magallon said. 

His name was withheld pending notification of relatives.

Detectives identified the alleged shooter as Benito Martinez, 20, and arrested him early Saturday morning at the police station, Magallon said.
