Officers responded Friday afternoon to a report of a man possibly armed with a gun at the PATH homeless shelter in Santa Barbara.
The incident began at about 3:30 p.m. at the facility at 816 Cacique St., according to Anthony Wagner, a Santa Barbara Police Department spokesman.
A resident alerted staff at the facility after he saw another man with what appeared to be a firearm, Wagner said.
Officers interviewed witnesses and bystanders, and evacuated portions of the building, Wagner told Noozhawk.
Eventually they located the suspect, identified as Sean Dalton Bartholow, 27, of Santa Barbara.
It turned out Bartholow was wanted on a felony warrant alleging possession of a weapon on a school campus and possession of a controlled substance, Wagner said.
He was taken into custody without incident, and police found a replica firearm, a BB gun, Wagner said.
Bartholow was not charged with any crimes related to Friday’s incident.
No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported, Wagner said.
