The community is invited to come take a dip at the Lompoc Aquatic Center while enjoying hands-on science activities, as part of a free event, 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. The pre-launch event is one in a series of local activities leading up to the Nov. 1 launch of the JPSS-2 from Vandenberg Space Force Base.
Pre-registration is not necessary for the event hosted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and NASA’s Join Polar Satellite System (JPSS), however, space will be limited.
There also will be a JPSS-2 event at the Lompoc Public Library, 5:30-6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27. The bilingual library program will feature a flight vehicle testing suite simulator, cooking demonstration, and kids’ activities.
