Caitlin Racich will bring a wealth of experience as the new girls volleyball coach at Providence High School in Santa Barbara.

Racich was a star player at Dos Pueblos, leading the Chargers to the CIF-SS finals in 2008. She received a scholarship to Pepperdine, where she started out on the indoor volleyball team before switching to the beach. She won the inaugural AVCA beach doubles title and helped the Waves win the the first beach volleyball team national championship in 2012. She earned All-American honors in 2012 and 2013. She graduated from Pepperdine ranked No. 1 in program history in wins.

She’s been assistant coaching at volleyball programs in the area.

“Not only does she have a great volleyball background that will help build up this program, but she will also be on campus as a teacher and admin support,” said Providence athletic director Steve Stokes.

Racich will be assisted by Cody Niessen.

“We are so fortunate to have such a great coaching staff with coach Caitlin Racich and coach Cody Niessen. I can’t wait to watch our girls volleyball program continue to grow,” said Stokes.

The Patriots start the season on Friday against Valley Christian Academy at the Page Center at 6 p.m.
