Nearly 80% of the children in Haitian orphanages are not true orphans, Child Hope International reports. They are there because a family member living in poverty didn’t have the support they needed to adequately provide for them.
Many of these families long to be reunited yet can’t imagine how it would be possible because their situation is so desperate, according to Child Hope.
Child Hope International serves children and families separated by poverty in Haiti by providing reunification services, after care, and collaborating with orphanages so the children can experience the love of a family.
