A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash on Highway 1 south of Lompoc on Saturday, according to emergency dispatch reports.

Just before 11 a.m., crews from the Santa Barbara County and Lompoc fire departments responded to the scene on Highway 1 near Santa Rosa Road, a little over a mile south of the city limits.

The crash involved a Honda motorcycle and reportedly left the rider with major injuries.

Highway 1 was closed for approximately 20 minutes so a CalStar medical helicopter could land and pick up the victim to be flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
