Micah Jacobi sparked a fourth-quarter San Marcos comeback that resulted in a 53-45 victory at Ventura for the Royals’ first Channel League boys basketball win on Tuesday night.

Jacobi scored nine points in the final quarter to help San Marcos overcome a five-point deficit.

Wyatt Miller led the Royals (3-5, 1-1 in league) with 15 points and Owen Lauderdale added 10 points.

Coach James Kinzler said guard Andre McCullough was a difference maker in the game.

“His tenacity and grit, especially on the defensive end, was big,” said Kinzler. “We’re a work in progress, but I am grateful for some positive strides that we made tonight against a very tough and well-coached Ventura team.”

The Royals are back in action Thursday at Royal High in Simi Valley for a non-league game.
