San Marcos fell to a strong Westlake team, 70-59, in the semifinals of the Simi Tip-Off Classic on Friday night.
John Connolly and Tony Nijia each scored 16 points and Max Sheldon provided a spark with 14 points for the Royals (2-4). Westlake is 8-1.
“A great effort overall,” San Marcos coach Jelani Hicks said. “Will Pace did a good job setting the tone on defense along with Isaiah Hicks.”
The Royals play Oxnard for third place on Saturday at 4 p.m.
