Grace Padilla had a double-double of 21 points and 19 rebounds to carry the Santa Ynez girls basketball team to a 45-36 win over San Marcos in a Channel League game at Santa Ynez on Tuesday.

Down 21-20, the Pirates outscored the Rohals 14-2 in the second quarter.

“We couldn’t find the bucket in the third,” said San Marcos coach Aaron Solis. “We also had a difficult time matching up with Padilla and stopping her drive even though we knew where she was going. She is a good player for a reason.

“But we never backed down and I am proud of all the girls for their effort and heart.”

Kiani Royals scored 10 points to lead San Marcos (14-5, 0-3 in Channel League).
