The San Marcos senior volleyball players enjoyed their special night with a 25-12, 25-21, 25-18 sweep over Santa Ynez in the Channel League finale on Tuesday at the Thunderhut.
The result leaves the Royals with a 7-3 record in league and an 18-5 mark overall.
“Our seniors all contributed tonight with players like Rya Cummings playing opposite and our standout setter Ava Cole,” said co-coach Dwayne Hauschild. “We even got contributions from a couple of kids who have been banged up with injuries like Kennedy Frisell and Ell Drury-Pullen, who served for some key points in game two.”
The underclassmen led the attack, with junior Riley Green putting away eight kills, junior middle Eloise McGibben posting six and sophomore Bazylewicz adding five.
Hauschild also praised freshman setter Josie Gamberdella.
“I was really happy to see freshman setter Josie Gamberdella set a fantastic match and showing us what the future looks like after Ava leaves,” she said.
The Royals will play a non-league game against Ventura on Thursday before they learn their CIF playoff draw on Saturday.
