Kayla Julio and Paige Ingram scored goals for San Marcos in a 2-2 draw at San Luis Obispo in a non-league girls soccer match on Tuesday night.
Julio finished a nice sequence of passes from Aisli Suzuki and Sofia Orozco to give the Royals the lead in the first half.
San Luis Obispo capitalized on the wet conditions to score the equalizer. A shot that was first blocked by goalie Olivia Dozer slipped through her hands.
But San Marcos came back when Ingram received a ball from Orozco and she drilled a shot into the top left corner for a 2-1 lead at the end of the first half.
The Tigers tied the score on a free kick that slipped over the gloves of Anna Kirks.
“My girls showed strength in the midfield and really played well as a team for their first time,” said San Marcos coach Jennifer Sotelo. “I am very optimistic about this team and have high expectations for them.”
