The San Marcos girls held off a Righetti fourth-quarter rally to win their season opener over the Warriors Wednesday at the Thunderhut, 45-37.
Mariia Shtykova led the Royals with 14 points, and Mia Martinez-Tomatis was also in double figures with 12. Oceanna Bauer and Michelle Arellanes scored seven points apiece.
San Marcos led 37-22 at the end of the third quarter, before Righetti moved closer lead in the fourth. The Warriors outscored the Royals 15-8 in the final period.

“We played well as a team for our season opener,” Royals coach Tiffany Simms said. “We started the game with the same energy that we finished with. Very proud of the team and how we played.”
San Marcos next plays on Wednesday, November 30, against Oak Park.
