San Marcos boys basketball fell to Oxnard in the third-place game at the Simi Tip-Off Classic on Saturday, 48-43.

Tony Nijia got the Royals off to a good start as he scored nine of his 14 points in the first quarter. The defenses took charge in the second quarter and the teams went into halftime tied 17-17.

Isaiah Hicks scored all of his team-high 15 points in the second half to keep San Marcos close.

Nijia was named to the all-tournament team.

The Royals (2-5) play next weekend in the Pacifica Tournament in Oxnard.
