San Marcos won eight doubles set and snapped a four-year girls tennis playoff drought with an 11-7 victory over Oak Park in a CIF-SS Division 1 first-round match at Agoura High on Wednesday.

The team of Samanta Forster and Bella Munoz lost only won game in sweeping their three sets and the No. 2 team of Emily Rapp ad Jesi Rabinowitz also swept. Bali Lavine and Sherryl Vargas won two sets.

“Really proud of the way our doubles played today. They’ve come a long way since the beginning of the season,” said coach Jonny Sapp.

“Today, we made it a goal to go all in and put everything on the line,” he added. “No holding back, going for all their shots and giving it their 100 percent, because if they put their 100 percent and lose, we know they were a better team.”

The Royals play at top-seeded Corona del Mar on Thursday.
