The San Marcos softball team dropped two games at the Camarillo Tournament Saturday, to Agoura 7-3 and to Camarillo 9-2.
Against Agoura, the Royals took an early 2-0 lead when Caitlyn Early homered with Emma Foster on base in the top of the first.
In the third inning, with San Marcos behind 4-2, Foster walked, stole second and third, and then scored on a single by Gigi Gritt for the team’s third run.
Against Camarillo, Early doubled in the fourth inning and one out later Tianna Monaghan hit a two-run homer for the Royals’ only two runs of the game.
“Our defense played much better in the second game, but we could not stop a good-hitting Camarillo team,” San Marcos coach Jeff Swann said.
The Royals are now 8-8 overall (7-2 in Channel League play) and do not play until Saturday, April 9, for the second day of the Camarillo Tournament.
Boys lacroose: San Marcos 12, Dos Pueblos 6
San Marcos’ Tyler Hughes led all scorers with five goals in a 12-6 boys lacrosse win against Dos Pueblos in a Channel League match.
Miles Moore added three goals, and Eli Heinze, Jack Van Thyne, Jack Wiebe and Connor Early scored one goal each.
“Outstanding faceoff by Eric Lino,” San Marcos coach Joseph Van Thyne said. “It was a well balanced match and both teams look forward to their rematch in two weeks.”
Softball: Lompoc 6, Santa Barbara 0
Lompoc hit two home runs and opened a wide lead over Santa Barbara on the way to a 6-0 win, but Dons’ pitcher Vienna Mochi battled back to strike out 11 Braves.
