A male juvenile arrived at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with an apparent stab wound Sunday afternoon as Santa Barbara police investigated a fight at Leadbetter Beach.

At approximately 3:40 p.m., multiple witnesses called police to report a fight in progress in the beachside park in the 800 block of Shoreline Drive across from Santa Barbara City College, Sgt. Ethan Ragsdale said Sunday night.

Multiple officers responded to the scene and police learned about the wounded juvenile.

Ragsdale said the youth, whose name and age were not released, was being treated for a nonlife-threatening stab wound in his abdomen at the hospital.

“Currently, no arrests have been made in connection with the disturbance and this is believed to be an isolated incident,” he said.

He added that the case is currently under investigation.

Police have not said whether the fight or the stabbing were related to gang activity.

No other details were released, and police did not respond to requests for further comment Sunday night.
