Santa Barbara Strings, a nonprofit youth string orchestra group, has openings in three orchestras and chamber ensembles, and is inviting violin, viola, cello, and double bass players from the Santa Barbara County area to audition.

Young pianists are also being accepted to join the chamber music program.

Beginner, intermediate and advanced students, ages 4-19, can audition for one of three orchestras and chamber ensembles. Audition with video submission by Aug. 20 or in-person audition, 1-6 p.m. Sunday Aug. 27 at El Montecito Presbyterian Church, 1455 East Valley Road.

The general orchestra levels are the Toccata Orchestra, Sinfonietta Orchestra, and Vivace Orchestra.

Orchestral rehearsals are on Sunday afternoons, September 2023-May 2024. Chamber ensemble rehearsal days may vary.

Scholarships for eligible students are available for program participation and instruments.
