Playing in driving wind and rain from Hurricane Hilary, Harman and Blanchette defeated Orange County’s Bennet Tchaikovsky and Aidan Powell for the state title.

It’s the second year in a row Harman has been a Cal Cup champion. He won last summer with Hawai’i’s Kai Rodriguez.

Harman and Blanchette are partners on USA Volleyball’s U19 national beach team. Blanchette hails from Henderson, Tenn.

Harman, a senior at SBHS, has committed to play indoor volleyball at Long Beach State. He plans to play in the AVP Laguna Beach Open in October. He played in the pro event last year with Taylor Crabb, who just won the AVP Manhattan Beach Open on Sunday.
