A Santa Maria man out on bail in connection with a shooting last fall ended up in custody again on weapons charges related to a fight last weekend.
At 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, members of the Santa Maria Police Department Detective Bureau with assistance from the agency’s SWAT team served search and arrest warrants at a residence in the 500 block of South Oakley Street, Sgt. Nate Totorica said.
Officers took Noe Soria Bedolla, 19, into custody on an arrest warrant stemming from detectives’ investigation of a fight involving a firearm that occurred in the city last weekend.
At about 1:48 p.m. Saturday, officers were sent to a report of a fight at a business in the 1000 block of East Main Street.
The fight involved two groups, which included one subject who had a firearm, Totorica said.
Officers responded and later identified the suspect with the firearm as Bedolla, who fled the scene and was not apprehended.
The suspect in this case, Bedolla, was out on bail after being arrested in connection with a shooting and attempted robbery case that occurred near Thornburg and Hermosa streets on Oct. 24.
In that case, in Santa Barbara County Superior Court in Santa Maria, he pleaded not guilty to attempted robbery, assault with a firearm and possession of a firearm along with denying several sentencing enhancements.
He is scheduled to return to court in that case on July 5.
New charges related to Saturday’s incident had not been filed as of midday Thursday.
Bedolla was booked on his warrant into the Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and a gang enhancement.
