Santa Ynez starting pitcher Caleb Cassidy allowed only one hit through five innings, but Cabrillo got hot in the sixth, scoring four runs to beat the Pirates, 4-1.

Dallas Deforest hit a home run in the third for the Pirates’ run.

“Caleb was great,” said coach Warren Dickey. “We need to learn how to close out a game.  Cabrillo is a very good team and they capitalized on our mistakes late.”

Matthew Wolfe won a tiebreaker at No. 6 singles for Santa Ynez and Cooper Haws and Joshua Nau prevailed in a doubles tiebreaker, helping the Pirates defeated Paso Robles, 6-3.

Santa Ynez swept the three doubles matches to clinch the victory. The winning teams were Bryce Wiczak/Antonio Cardiel, Haws/Nau and Dominic Day/Eli Moore.
