The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau has released the name of the man killed early Sunday in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 101 near Los Alamos

The victim was Moises Diaz Cervantes, 28, of Los Alamos, sheriff’s spokeswoman Raquel Zick said on Wednesday.

The California Highway Patrol said Cervantes was southbound in the left-hand lane of Highway 101 at about 12:45 a.m. when his vehicle drifted into the center median and began to overturn.

The Dodge SUV continued through the median, across the northbound lanes and onto the frontage road, overturning several times and coming to rest on its wheels in a vineyard.

Cervantes, the sole occupant, was not wearing a seatbelt, the CHP said, and was ejected from the vehicle, suffering fatal injuries.

He was declared dead at the scene.
