Santa Barbara High was outscored 11-2 in the first quarter at St. John Bosco and dropped a 54-44 in a non-league boys basketball game on Saturday.

“We got outscored by nine in the first quarter but we played them within one in the last three quarters,” said Santa Barbara coach Corey Adam.

Bryce Warrecker scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Dons (1-1). Vance Baldwin scored eight points off the bench, including a pair of three-pointers.

“Vance Baldwin and Erik Strandberg gave us great contributions off the bench,” said Adam. “We did not shoot well but battled hard despite a lot of foul trouble.”
