Santa Barbara County firefighters quickly doused a residential structure fire early Wednesday in the Trout Club off of Highway 154.

At approximately 12:20 a.m., crews responded to a report of a fire off Valley View Road in the rural neighborhood above Santa Barbara.

They arrived on the scene to find a three-story house filled with smoke coming from the bottom level, said fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli.

There were no occupants in the residence at the arrival of the first engine company.

Firefighters pulled hose lines and began an interior attack on the fire, extinguishing it a short time later, Bertucelli said.

No injuries were reported, and firefighters remained on scene to overhaul and salvage the structure.

Three county engines and a battalion chief were dispatched to the incident, along with an engine from the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
