Santa Barbara High got goals from five players in notching two wins Friday at the Cats & Hounds boys soccer tournament in Paso Robles.
The Dons beat Morro Bay 4-0 in their opener. Brandon Pacheco scored two goals and Jorge Ochoa and Miguel Alvarado had one apiece.
Later, Santa Barbara got goals from Juan Carlos Torres and Ben Wilson in a 2-1 win over Nipomo.
The Dons are 2-0-1 overall.
“Good to get our first two wins under our belts considering the conditions of the field, given all the rain the last a few days,” coach Todd Heil said. “I thought we played really well defensively as a team for most of the day. And, having the experience of Connor Lambe in the goal is a huge confidence builder for some of our younger players on the back line.”
He praised the play of JJ Wolf in both teams.
After going goal-less in its season opener, Heil was pleased the team created quality scoring chances in both matches on Friday.
“That’s something we’ll look to continue to do in the semis Saturday morning versus Paso Robles.” he said.
