The Santa Barbara High girls water polo team finished strong at the Southern California Championships on Saturday, beating Agoura and Mira Costa in its final two games in Orange County.
The Dons defeated Agoura, 8-5, behind four goals and three steals from Juju Martinez do Amaral. They had lost twice this season against Agoura, the top-ranked team in Division 2 of the CIF-SS.
In their final game of the tournament, the Dons held off Mira Costa, 9-6. Do Amaral had three goals and Rachel Whitney scored two to lead six different scorers. Elise Power had a goal, an assist and two steals.
Abigail Hendrix scored twice and assisted on two goals in the Agoura game, and goalie Faith Tedesco was brilliant goal, making 14 saves and holding a high-powered offense to five goals.
Tbe Dons will next play in the Channel League tournament on Tuesday at Dos Pueblos, opening against Lompoc at 3:10 p.m.
